POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A driver died after a box truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the Polk Parkway.

The two were driving eastbound on State Road 570 when the tractor-trailer slowed down and the box truck slammed into the back of it at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday.

After the crash, both trucks came came to a final rest in the outside lane and the box truck burst into flames.

The box truck driver suffered fatal injuries, and the other drive was not injured.

The crash shut down the eastbound lanes of the road for several hours during the morning commute but have since reopened.
